ONE CHARGED FOLLOWING ASSAULT INVESTIGATION IN OAKLAND

(BRANT, ON) - On June 24, 2026, at approximately 2:00 pm, members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance report at a local business in Oakland, Ontario.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim and investigated. As a result of the investigation, Brant County OPP arrested and charged Okan CANYURT, 37 years old, from Norfolk County with the following Criminal Code charges:
- Assault with A Weapon, - Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, - Mischief Under $ 5,000
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 17, 2026, to answer to the charges.
