(NORTH ALGONA-WILBERFORCE TWP., ON) - - The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 60.

On June 10, 2026, shortly after 6:00 pm, officers responded to a collision that resulted in the closure of a portion of Highway 60 in North Algona-Wilberforce Township.

Preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound vehicle slowed or stopped on the roadway while a turtle was crossing. A second vehicle travelling behind was unable to avoid a collision and struck the first vehicle. The highway remained closed for several hours to allow for the investigation and cleanup.

As a result of the investigation, a driver from Ottawa has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
