DRIVER CHARGED WITH DANGEROUS OPERATION AND FLIGHT FOR POLICE

(PEMBROKE, ON) - The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual after failing to stop for police
On June 1, 2026, just after 3:00 pm, OPP observed a vehicle travelling on Mackay Street and Lake Street in the City of Pembroke. Police attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, narrowly avoiding a collision. Police did not pursue the vehicle for public safety but began an immediate investigation into identifying the driver.
The driver was identified and located on June 2, 2026, on Lea Street. After a short foot pursuit, the individual was taken into custody.
As a result of this incident Andrew PAQUETTE, age 41 of Beachburg, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to comply with release order
- Fail to comply with probation order - three counts
- Drive while under suspension
The accused was held for a bail hearing on June 3, 2026, and subsequently remains in custody. Their next court date is scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 10, 2026.
