ONE PERSON DECEASED AFTER TWO VEHICLE COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 17

(HEAD CLARA MARIA TWP., ON.) - The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 17 in Head Clara Maria Twp.
On June 28, 2026, just after 11:30 am, OPP received several calls for a collision on Highway 17 involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle. As a result, the section of Highway 17 between Yates Road and McSourley Lake Road was closed for several hours. The Highway has since reopened.
A 51-year-old male was transported to hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Officers from the UOV detachment were assisted by Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) officer and a Reconstructionist. The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario is also engaged, and a postmortem examination will be conducted as part of the investigation.
The investigation is continuing at this time.
