UOV OPP CHARGE PERSON AFTER BRANDISHING EDGED WEAPON

(PEMBROKE, ON) - The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an altercation between two parties in the 100 block of Pembroke St. East in the City of Pembroke.
On June 17, 2026, shortly after 5:00 pm, OPP were dispatched to a heated verbal altercation between two individuals where an edged weapon was observed. Both parties left the scene prior to police arrival.
Benjamin LECLAIRE, 29 years old, of Pembroke has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose as well as two counts of possession of a schedule I substance.
The accused was arrested and held for bail. They were later released with a next court appearance of July 9, 2026 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
