Arrest after employee’s vehicle stolen

A Guelph man faces several charges after an employee of a downtown business had his vehicle stolen from the parking lot while he was working.
On June 6 the victim discovered his Infiniti SUV missing. Investigation revealed a man had gained entry to a secure area and stole the victim’s backpack, which included his car keys. The vehicle was driven out of the parking lot but abandoned a short distance away.
Members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit recognized the suspect from surveillance video. The man is known to be bound by seven different driving prohibitions.
On Tuesday a 35-year-old Guelph man was arrested. He is charged with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, possessing stolen property over $5,000, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and seven counts of driving while prohibited. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
