A Guelph man faces several charges after a neighbour was attacked inside his own home early Wednesday.
Approximately 12:25 am police were called for a disturbance at an apartment on Gordon Street. The victim was awakened by the sound of someone smashing his air conditioner and awoke to find a man in his unit holding a hammer. He was struck in the face with the hammer and briefly strangled before breaking free and fleeing the unit.
Once outside he discovered his vehicle had been extensively damaged with all the windows and lights smashed. Officers arrived and arrested the man’s neighbour. The two are known to each other. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.
A 21-year-old Guelph man is charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and mischief over $1,000. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
