A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after police were called to a residence Thursday morning.
Approximately 9:40 am police were called to an address near Gordon Street and Forbes Avenue for reports of a woman screaming. Investigation revealed two people had earlier been involved in an altercation, during which one brandished a knife and chased the other. The victim was not physically injured. The parties are known to each other.
A 58-year-old Guelph man was arrested nearby and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and forcible confinement. He will appear in court October 9.
