A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop Thursday evening.
Approximately 6:45 pm police were called to a parking lot near Victoria Road North and Eramosa Road after a witness saw a man exit a vehicle while drinking an alcoholic beverage.
Officers spoke to the driver and observed signs of impairment including slurred speech and an odour of alcohol on his breath. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 34-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his car was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court August 25.
