A Guelph man was arrested Wednesday after someone reported a possible impaired driver at Stone Road Mall.
Approximately 10:30 am a witness reported a man and woman exiting a vehicle in the mall parking lot before stumbling around the lot and then entering a store.
Officers located the male driver in the parking lot and noted signs of impairment including slurred speech. After performing poorly on a field sobriety test he was arrested and transported to the police station, where an officer trained in drug recognition concluded his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by drugs.
A 28-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was seized for seven days. He will appear in court August 21.
