Crossbow leads to arrest

A Guelph man faces weapons and drug charges after a concerned citizen shared a photo of a man in possession of a crossbow.
Last week, police received security camera footage of a man carrying a crossbow with a scope outside a business on Woolwich Street. Through investigation officers were able to identify the man, who is bound by several court orders prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
On Friday night officers located the man outside a downtown business and placed him under arrest. The man tried to flee and resisted officers before they were able to handcuff him. During a search a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was located and seized. The crossbow was not recovered.
A 37-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts of possessing a weapon contrary to an order, four counts of breaching probation orders, resisting arrest and possessing a controlled substance. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court July 17.
