COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 401 AT DORCHESTER ROAD LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - Driver facing impaired charge after two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 at Dorchester Road.

On May 31, 2026, at 2:46 pm, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Dorchester Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre, for the report of a two-vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and a transport truck.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Matthew BAILEY, a 31-year-old of Ridgetown, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in London to speak to the charges on July 6, 2026.

There were no injuries reported.
