WHEEL OFF INCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 401

(LONDON, ON) - Driver charged after wheel off incident on Highway 401.
On July 20, 2026, at 1:05 pm, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to the westbound lanes of Highway 401 just east of Wellington Road in the City of London, for the report of a transport truck that had lost two wheels.
Police located the commercial motor vehicle, pulled over on the side of the highway, at which time an investigation was performed on the vehicle.
Further Investigation revealed one wheel struck a construction vehicle that was stationary in the construction zone in the area. The other wheel did not contact any other vehicles and ended up in the ditch.
A 37-year-old of London has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operate unsafe vehicle - commercial motor vehicle
The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges at a future date.
There were no injuries reported.
