RASH OF THEFTS IN DORCHESTER LEADS TO ARREST OF WANTED INDIVIDUAL

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - Middlesex County OPP investigation into numerous vehicle entries as well as a stolen vehicle in Dorchester, leads to wanted individual.
On July 13, 2026, at 5:20 am, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a residence on Catherine Street in Dorchester, Municipality of Thames Centre, for the report of a vehicle theft.
It was determined an unknown individual(s) entered the property sometime during the overnight hours and proceeded to steal a Black Ford Escape from the laneway.
Shortly after, officers began receiving phone calls from Dorchester residents advising their vehicles had been entered and miscellaneous items stolen during the overnight hours.
At approximately 5:24 pm, with the assistance of the Elgin-Middlesex Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the stolen vehicle was located at a business at 3700 Highbury Avenue in the City of London at which time an individual was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex County OPP Detachment.
As a result, Kurt MOORE, a 45-year-old of London has been charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle (two counts)
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada (two counts)
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (three counts)
- Use of Credit Card (six counts)
- Trespassing at Night
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court (six counts)
The accused was wanted from several local policing jurisdictions and was held for bail.
“The accused has been identified as being involved in a pattern of multi-jurisdictional property crime offences, including thefts from motor vehicles, thefts of motor vehicles and the fraudulent use of stolen credit cards, among other offences.
These offences have far-reaching consequences that extend beyond the immediate victims. Property-related crimes of this nature consume significant policing resources, contribute to rising insurance costs, undermine community safety and result in increased financial burdens for members of the public.
