(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) - Driver facing Impaired charge after traffic stop for stunt driving.

On June 6, 2026, at 3:45 am, a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol in Komoka in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, observed a vehicle travelling at nearly three times the posted rate of speed in the 50km/h zone on Glendon Drive.

A traffic stop was initiated at which time the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, William DYE, a 36-year-old of St. Thomas, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on July 7, 2026.
