TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SARNIA, ON) - An individual is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in Sarnia.
On July 10, 2026, at approximately 11:30 pm, a member of the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol in the westbound lanes on highway 402 when they observed a vehicle travelling at an excessive speed. A traffic stop was subsequently conducted on Maxwell Street at Indian Road in the City of Sarnia.
As a result, Jayden DEWHIRST, 19-year-old of St. Clair Township, was charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on August 17, 2026.
