DRIVER CHARGED AFTER FAILING TO STOP FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLE AND REFUSING BREATH DEMAND

(BEAUCAGE TOWNSHIP, ON) - A driver is facing several charges, including refusal to comply with a breath demand, following an incident west of North Bay.
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, at approximately 12:15 pm, members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were responding to a collision on Highway 17 with emergency lights and sirens activated when a vehicle failed to move to the right for the approaching police cruiser.
Shortly afterward, officers received a traffic complaint involving a vehicle matching the same licence plate. Police later located the vehicle in a commercial parking lot off Highway 17 in Beaucage Township. During the investigation, officers observed signs of alcohol impairment and demanded a breath sample using an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver refused and was placed under arrest.
As a result of the investigation, Cory ENOS, 31 years of age, of Stittsville, has been charged with:
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle, no permit
- Fail to have insurance card
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on August 6, 2026. The driver was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
