DRIVER CHARGED FOLLOWING COLLISION IN NORTH BAY

(NORTH BAY, ON) - A Sudbury resident is facing impaired driving charges following an early‑morning single vehicle collision in North Bay.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 4:15 am, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), North Bay Police Service (NBPS), District of Nipissing Paramedic Services, and North Bay Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 11/17 and Fisher Street.
A vehicle had collided with a traffic control light standard, resulting in the intersection’s traffic lights becoming inoperable. The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. During the investigation, officers observed signs consistent with alcohol impairment. The driver was subsequently arrested.
As a result of the investigation, Lorne DUSSOME, 25 years of age, of Sudbury, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver - blood alcohol concentration above zero
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on July 7, 2026. The driver was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
