OPP LAYS TWO STUNT DRIVING CHARGES WITHIN ONE HOUR ON HIGHWAY 17

(BONFIELD) - A member of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid two stunt driving charges within a one-hour period following separate traffic stops on Highway 17 in Bonfield.

On Saturday June 20, 2026, at approximately 4:10 pm, an officer stopped a vehicle after it was observed travelling 142 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old driver from North Bay was charged with Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed.

Less than an hour later, at approximately 5:00 pm, police conducted a second traffic stop after a vehicle was recorded travelling 141 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. A 25-year-old driver from Orléans was charged with:

As a result, a 25-year-old from Orleans was charged with:

  • Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
  • Drive while passenger under 16 fails to wear seatbelt

Drivers charged with stunt driving face immediate roadside consequences, including a 30 day driver’s licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment. Both drivers are scheduled to appear in provincial offences court in North Bay on a later date.
