DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION

(CHISHOLM TOWNSHIP) - One individual is facing multiple charges after a collision involving an e-bike and a horse and buggy in Chisholm Township.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the District of Nipissing Paramedic Services responded to a collision on Memorial Park Drive involving an e-bike and a horse and buggy.
The operator of the e-bike was transported to hospital by ambulance with injuries. During the investigation, officers observed signs consistent with alcohol impairment and made a demand for a breath sample, which the e-bike driver refused to provide.
As a result of the investigation, Joseph CHAMBERLAIN, 61 years of age, of Essa Township, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Operation while prohibited - three counts
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on July 21, 2026.
