ONE PERSON ARRESTED FOR UTTERING THREATS

(MATTAWA, ON) - One individual has been arrested and charged following an investigation into threats in Mattawa.
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a video circulating on social media of an individual making threats to bring a firearm to a summer event and harm those in attendance.
The North Bay OPP Crime Unit assumed carriage of the investigation and on Thursday June 4, 2026, executed a search warrant at a residence on Wyld Street in North Bay. One individual was taken into custody. No firearms were located during the search.
As a result of the investigation, Alain SAVARD, 34 years of age of North Bay, was charged with uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The OPP takes all threats of violence seriously. Incidents involving threats to public gatherings are treated as high priority. Resources are deployed to assess risk, identify those responsible, and take appropriate action to protect the community.
