TWO ARRESTED AFTER HIGHWAY 17 TRAFFIC STOP

(NORTH BAY) - Two individuals are facing multiple charges, after a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of North Bay.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at approximately 11:00 am, a member of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle displaying an expired temporary licence plate validation tag.
Through investigation, it was determined that the licence plates were not authorized for the vehicle, and the driver arrested. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, approximately $2,400 in Canadian currency, and a digital scale.
During the interaction, the officer observed signs consistent with drug impairment in the driver, who was transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Amanda MONTEITH-SERGERIE, 37 years of age, of Sturgeon Falls, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Vehicle owner produce false insurance
- Use plates not authorized for vehicle
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
- Obstruct plate
- Operate unsafe vehicle
Further, Marc BUREAU, 33 years of age, of Sturgeon Falls, has been charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
The accused individuals were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on August 4, 2026. In addition, the driver was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
