(POWASSAN, ON) - The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired driving after responding to a report of a vehicle stuck on a guard rail.

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, at approximately 7:45 pm, the North Bay OPP, along with Emergency Medical Services and Fire Services, attended the scene of a pickup truck hung up on the guard rails in the southbound lanes of Highway 11.

Officers spoke with the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Robert IRWIN, 56 years of age, of Sturgeon Falls, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 17, 2026, in North Bay. They were also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
