COLLISION LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

(DRUMMOND-NORTH ELMSLEY TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Smiths Falls resident with impaired driving.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Lanark County OPP officers responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch on Burns Road @ Buttermilk Road, Drummond-North Elmsley Township. Officers located vehicle just after 6:20 pm After speaking with a witness, the driver had left the scene and was located a short time later. The female was arrested and transported to the Lanark County OPP Detachment in Perth for testing.
As a result of the investigation, Tamara EMON, 36-years-old, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Fail to report an accident
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
- Fail to stop after an accident
- Operate a motor vehicle - no insurance
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, August 24, 2026.
The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
