MOTORIST CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION

(CARLETON PLACE, ON) - - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Quebec resident with impaired driving following a traffic stop.
On Monday, June 15, 2026, just after 4:00 pm officers responded to a complaint of a suspected impaired driver in Carleton Place. Officers observed the vehicle on Mill St. and with the assistance of a witness, a female was identified as the driver of the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Carleton Place detachment for testing.
As a result of the investigation, Elaine MATOKO, 24-years-old, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, August 10, 2026.
