THREE STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED; ONE PERSON CHARGED

(BECKWITH TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Brampton resident after recovering three stolen vehicles.
On Monday, June 16, 2026, just after 2:00 am officers had received a notification from a vehicle security monitoring company that two stolen vehicles from the Peel region were being tracked eastbound on Highway 7. Officers observed the two vehicles along with a third, all with no licence plates, travelling near Carleton Place on Highway 7.
Officers were successful in stopping one of the vehicles and arresting the driver while the other two failed to stop. The vehicles were found abandoned in Beckwith Township a short time later and the drivers had fled on foot. An OPP canine unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and Ottawa Police tracked the suspects but did not locate them.
As a result of the investigation, Harbalab SHERGILL, 22-years-old of Brampton, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
