(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Tay Valley Township resident with impaired driving.

Lanark County OPP were called to assist Lanark County Paramedics in the Tay Valley Township on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, just after 11:30 pm when they came upon a vehicle stopped on the roadway with the driver unresponsive. Officers attended the scene and spoke with the driver.

The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP Detachment in Perth for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Ian WHITEHEAD, 58-years-old, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, August 31, 2026.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
