(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - An Ajax driver has been charged following a traffic stop in Wellington North.

On July 16, 2026, at approximately 10:15 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Wellington Road 109 in Wellington North Township, when they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old from Ajax, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
  • Speeding 50+km/h over posted speed limit

A 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30 day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph, at a later date.
