SERIOUS COLLISION CLOSES INTERSECTION
Multiple Fatalities and Injuries
(MAPLETON TWP, ON) - Two motor vehicle collision results in multiple fatalities and injuries.
On June 12, 2026, at approximately 7:30 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local Fire and EMS were dispatched to a two motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 4th Line and Wellington Road 12, within Mapleton Township.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a van and a sports utility vehicle collided at the intersection, resulting in multiple occupants from both motor vehicles sustaining serious life-threatening-injuries, alongside several fatalities.
Several individuals were transported to various local hospitals with serious injuries, alongside three patients being transported via air ambulance to various trauma centres.
The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team is on scene and is assisting the Wellington County OPP with the investigation.
The OPP are still in the early stages of the investigation and further updates will be provided when available.
As a result of the collision, the intersection of 4th Line and Wellington Road 12 is closed in all directions, and will remain so for the next several hours. The public is asked to use alternate routes.
