IMPAIRED DRIVING IN WELLINGTON COUNTY

Three Drivers Charged

(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) - Three drivers have been removed from Wellington County roadways recently after being found driving while impaired.

On June 5, 2026, at approximately 12:15 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic enforcement near Wellington Road 36 and Currie Drive in Puslinch Township, when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, Shane DOOLCHAN, a 34-year-old from Cambridge, is charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding 1-49 Km/h over posted limit
  • Drive motor vehicle perform stunt - excessive speed

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 14, 2026.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Further, on June 7, 2026, at approximately 3:00 pm, members of the Wellington County OPP responded to reports of a vehicle that collided with road signs before entering a ditch along Wellington Road 7 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. The vehicle then departed the location. Approximately two hours later, the same vehicle struck two hydro poles and subsequently collided into a field on Wellington Road 7 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

The driver was transported to local hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Donald WATTERS, a 67-year-old from Fergus, is charged under the Criminal Code, the Tobacco Tax Act and the Liquor Licence Control Act with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 17, 2026.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Additionally, on June 8, 2026, at approximately 12:30 am, a member of the Wellington County OPP was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on the Hanlon Parkway in Guelph, when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, Kosta VRANES, a 28-year-old from Waterloo, is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 17, 2026.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
