DRIVER FACING IMPAIRED CHARGES

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one individual following a traffic stop in Centre Wellington Township.
On Sunday, May 31, 2026, at approximately 1:00 am, members of the Wellington County OPP stopped a vehicle while conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Wellington Road 18 within the Town of Fergus. Following the initial investigation, the driver was transported to the Wellington County Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Dakota ROCCO, a 32-year-old of Fergus, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
In addition to the charges, an automatic 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were imposed.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on Friday, July 10, 2026.
