Four Charges for Failing to Wear Seatbelts

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - Traffic stop results in four charges in relation to failing to wear seatbelts.

On June 28, 2026, at approximately 5:15 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit were conducting proactive traffic enforcement in Elora when a traffic stop was initiated on Church Street and prompted an investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old occupant from Mississauga was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with ‘Drive while passenger under 16 fails to properly wear a seatbelt’. Additionally, three more occupants from Mississauga, aged 27 and two individuals aged 22, are charged under the Highway Traffic Act with ‘Passenger - fail to properly wear seatbelt’.
