Canine Unit Deployed - Five Charges Laid

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) - Homeowners assaulted. Canine Unit Deployed. Five Charges Laid.

On June 9, 2026, at approximately 8:15 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a residence within Puslinch Township, involving a stranger breaking a window of a residence, assaulting both homeowners outside the residence, and then fleeing the scene prior to police arrival. Neither homeowner was reporting any injury.

As a result of the investigation, the Wellington County OPP Uniform Patrol, OPP West-Region Emergency Response Team, OPP West-Region Canine Unit and Waterloo Regional Police assisted in the investigation and ultimately locating the suspect in the nearby area on Gore Road, within Puslinch Township.

The suspect, later identified as Mark WILKINSON, a 58-year-old from North Vancouver, British Colombia, was placed under arrest and is charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Mischief - destroys or damages property
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The weapon used in this occurrence can’t be disclosed as it’s evidentiary in nature.
