HISTORICAL DRUG TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - Police have arrested an individual connected to a drug trafficking investigation in Palmerston.
In May 2020, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence in Palmerston in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.
The search resulted in a significant seizure of suspected methamphetamine and items consistent with drug trafficking.
On June 3, 2026, the accused was arrested in Kelowna, British Columbia and transported back to Ontario.
As a result of the investigation, Christopher O’NEILL, a 42-year-old from Kelowna, British Columbia, has been charged under the Controlled drugs & Substances Act and Criminal Code with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Failure to comply with release order
The accused remains in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 8, 2026.
The arrest was a collaborative effort involving Wellington County OPP, the British Columbia Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Aviation Services and OPP Bail Support Team.
