One Individual Facing Charges
(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - An individual has been charged with multiple offences following an investigation into a barricaded person incident in Port Dover.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at approximately 3:45 pm, members of the Norfolk County OPP, with assistance from the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit, and Crisis Negotiators, responded to a Main Street address in Port Dover following a report of a barricaded individual.
The investigation determined that an interaction occurred between two individuals inside a residence on the property, during which one person assaulted the other, resulting in minor injuries. The same individual then produced a firearm and pointed it at a second person.
Shortly before 9:00 pm, officers safely took the individual into custody.
During the investigation, officers also learned of several previous incidents involving the same individuals, including assaults, property damage and the use of a firearm, that had occurred over an extended period of time.
As a result, a 45-year-old resident of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:
- Assault - spousal - six counts, - Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm - four counts, - Assault with a weapon - spousal - three counts, - Mischief - destroys or damages property - three counts, - Assault cause bodily harm - choke, suffocate or strangle - two counts, - Pointing a firearm - two counts, - Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose - two counts, - Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm - spousal, - Assault with a weapon
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
